About Tidy Up
Tidy Up is a waste transport and recycling business, serving as an alternative for businesses and residents to hiring skip bins. Tidy Up provides the complete rubbish removal service, removing the rubbish and recyclable material from businesses and transporting, sorting, disposing and recycling it. Services include rubbish collection and removal, green waste removal, electronic waste removal & recycling, as well as the Tidy Up Salvage Store. Tidy Up is a WA family-owned business, which has been around for over 40 years.
Tony Berry is the Operations Manager, responsible for scheduling and overall day to day management of the business. As Tony explains, at the time Tidy Up started working with Brentnalls back in 2004 the business was growing, but they did not have the business advice married to their accountancy, to be able to achieve the growth they could see was possible. They started looking for a new business accountant who would connect the strategy with the numbers and help the business to grow. In addition to seeking accelerated growth, the business had a cashflow problem they were not even aware of.
At that time, Brentnalls WA was recommended by a friend. As Tony explains, it was the fact that Brentnalls WA is selective in which clients they work with – specifically that they cater to a select market, working with businesses that are seeking to grow – and also that Brentnalls is proactive in how they work with clients, which gave him the confidence that Brentnalls would cater to Tidy Up’s specific needs.

Brentnalls WA started running the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process, which involved in-depth quarterly meetings to review business performance and financial analysis, look at the business forecasts, capital expenditure and planning, identify opportunities and red flags in the business and align on key actions. The process identified issues within the business to be addressed, and helped put improved systems and processes in place to ultimately drive business growth.
Tony says “We knew we wanted to grow, what we weren’t aware of at the time was that we had a cashflow problem. Brentnalls WA implemented a cashflow system which put the business in a much healthier position. I was nervous at the time about implementing the new system, but over a 6-month period cashflow improved, we never had any problems and the business never looked back. Brentnalls also helped with improving systems and processes as well as marketing. Marketing was something we thought we would have to outsource, but Brentnalls made it simple and helped improve sales and marketing.

Over the many years that Tidy Up has been working with Brentnalls, the business has experienced tremendous growth. From 2015 to 2021 turnover increased by 23% and net profit increased by more than 1000%!
