Business Challenges
Tryan Christos became Managing Director of Interlink in 2018, taking on the role within the family business. Due to unforeseen circumstances, he had to assume the leadership position quite suddenly, without a proper transition plan. At 28, Tryan had the drive but recognised he needed to fast-track his leadership growth with expert support.
As Tryan explains, “I was handed the reins during a time of disruption, without the usual succession planning. I knew I needed a structured external lens to help me grow into the role as fast as the company needed me to. I was looking for an external advisor to come in and offer that external perspective.”
Tryan had ambitious goals to grow and modernise the business. He recognised Interlink’s potential but needed strategic guidance to articulate his vision effectively, gain buy-in from his management team, and execute his growth strategy. As a young managing director, he strategically sought out an experienced advisor to provide a high-level perspective that would sharpen his leadership and elevate business performance.
Working with Brentnalls WA
Brentnalls WA implemented the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process with Interlink’s leadership team. These structured sessions provided a framework for reviewing business performance and aligning strategic initiatives. During these QBR meetings, Brentnalls WA advisors brought valuable, market-driven ideas that helped shape Interlink’s strategy and operations. One such contribution was their guidance on positioning Interlink’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP), helping the company attract talent when competitors struggled with recruitment challenges.
Brentnalls WA facilitated a comprehensive two-day strategy session that brought together Interlink’s senior leaders. This intensive workshop created a structured environment for the leadership team to align on business strategy and develop a concrete action plan for growth.
Tryan says, “One thing that we did last year, and I think it’s the best thing that we ever did with Brentnalls, was our 2-day strategy session with our senior leaders. The structure of that strategy session getting everyone together in a room and going through a more structured process to nail down the vision and strategy, essentially empowered me to embrace my vision and share it with the company and get that alignment with everyone.”
Having experienced advisors in the conversation provided external validation that reinforced Tryan’s leadership. The partnership with Brentnalls WA offered ongoing guidance and support, functioning as a sounding board to help him navigate challenges and make confident decisions as he executed his vision for the company.
Tryan says, “When I roll it out, we’re getting buy-in because I’ve got someone that’s very experienced reinforcing it.”
Results
Working with Brentnalls WA has enabled Tryan to confidently lead Interlink through a period of significant growth. With Brentnalls WA’s strategic support, Tryan has successfully scaled the business while maintaining the personalised service that differentiates Interlink in the marketplace. The partnership has resulted in significant alignment across the organisation, with senior leaders fully embracing the vision of scaling Interlink’s service offering.
Tryan shares, “As a leader, I’ve successfully been able to take the reins of quite a decently sized company and make it my own. 12 senior leaders are now 100% on board with the vision of scaling the amazing service we give.”
Most importantly, Brentnalls WA’s role as an external advisor has accelerated Tryan’s development as a business leader, providing him with the confidence and strategic framework needed to lead effectively. The value derived from this external perspective has proven essential to Interlink’s continued success and expansion.
“The value of the experience and expertise is worth every dollar spent, because we get it back at magnitude.” concludes Tryan.
